CMD Networks

You might have seen us here at UTCIAD.co.uk make reference to, or mention, CMD Networks, and you may be wondering who they are and where they fit into the technological marvel that is UTCIAD.

CMD Networks are the dedicated Networking arm of UTCIAD.co.uk.  They're responsible for IP transit and routing operations, switch and router configurations and maintenance, and network consultancy services.  They're in charge of getting computers to talk to other computers.

CMD Networks was formed as an entity out of the slow decline, technical inflexibility, stagnation and eventual break-up of Intensive Networks Limited.  Key to this was the split of Associated Networks Limited and their customer base from Intensive Networks, Associated Networks celebrated this independence and new-found status as a Tier-1 pan-European Internet Service Provider by adding an 'eXtreme' to their name.  Thus ANL became ANLX, Intensive lost their largest customer, and somewhere along the way an Intensive Networks tecchie with a particular love of all things linux was unfairly dismissed on a crisp and bright Tuesday afternoon in April.

In a twist of irony, aforementioned ex-techie, who had been working on extricating ANL from INL and the fallout from the split just a couple of weeks previous, now found himself not with an email address of @intensive.net, but with an email address of @anlx.net instead, and now a reseller for ANLX.  The first thing to be resold was the package for setting up CMD-Networks.co.uk.

Although CMD's work is currently done under the UTCIAD.co.uk banner, the CMD site and email might be re-enabled at some point in the future as UTCIAD.co.uk encounters increasingly more network-orientated projects and services.
